
Program Description:
The Air Conditioning /Refrigeration (Level 1) Program is designed to provide persons with a broad base of knowledge, practical skills and attitudes which are fundamental and which are required for obtaining/performing entry level jobs at work place. These fundamental competencies are also the bases on which higher level training programmes in the occupational area are built; and persons who successfully complete these courses are eligible for entry into such programmes.
Program Rational:
The Refrigeration/Air Conditioning industry is expanding and growing fast as a result of tech-nological advancement in the work sector this means the manufacturing of higher energy effi-cient units using alternative environmentally friendly refrigerants. The industry will demand competent, skill and highly trained technicians, which will require technical training and up-grade. This program is therefore designed to develop cognitive, the affective and psychomo-tor skills in the trainees that will enable them to enter the world of work and become productive workers in this demanding exciting industry.

Describe the factors related to trade and professional ethics;
Understaind and discuss the role work ethics play in developing good customer relations;
Appreciate the improtance of ethics in the workplace;
Use electrical test instruments such as voltmeter, ammeter, ohm-meter;
Use refrigeration/air-conditioning special tools such as leak detectors, manifold gauge and pocket thermometers;
Install air conditionin and refrigeration equipment and componts;
Perform maintenance duties for air conditioning and refrigeration units.
